Alberto Martinelli Alberto Martinelli is Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Political Science and former Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Milan. He also taught at Bocconi, Stanford, NYU, Valencia, Cairo Ain Shams University, St.Petersburg, Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen.

Professor Martinelli is also President of the International Social Science Council (UNESCO, Paris), the Fondazione AEM (A2A), Past-President of the International Sociological Association and Vice-President of Science for Peace of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.

In 45 years of scholarly work Professor Martinelli has been active in teaching, pure and applied research, publishing, international scientific cooperation, and government consulting. His main international research projects: The new International Economic Order, Business Interests Associations, Comparative Charting of Social Change, Sustainability for the 21st Century.

Present research interests focus on global governance, sustainable development, European integration, nationalism, comparative societies and politics, exit strategies form the economic crisis. Main recent publications in English: Transatlantic Divide. Comparing American and European Society, Oxford University Press, 2008; Italian edition, 2011. Global Modernization. Rethinking the Project of Modernity, Sage, 2005, Russian edition, 2006, Chinese edition 2011.
