Carmine D'Aloisio
Carmine D'Aloisio is Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. At the same time, he serves as Europe Senior Commercial Officer with regional management responsibility for 185 Commercial Service people in 23 countries in Europe.
The mission of the U.S. Commercial Service, the overseas network of the U.S. Department of Commerce Global Markets Division, is to promote U.S. exports, protect U.S. business interests abroad, and attract foreign investment to America.
Mr. D'Aloisio joined the U.S. Commerce Department in 1980 and he has been a Foreign Service officer since 1984. His prior diplomatic commercial postings included India, South Korea, The Philippines, Thailand, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (Riyadh and Dhahran), and Milan Italy.
In Washington, D.C. Mr. D'Aloisio has served twice as Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Operations. In addition, he was Director of Strategic Planning and Regional Director for East Asia/Pacific. In his Deputy Assistant Secretary positions, he managed Commercial Service people in more than 80 American Embassies.
For his work in the Middle East, Mr. D'Aloisio and his teams received two Gold Medals, the Department's highest awards, for their contributions to U.S. national economic security interests in Kuwait in 1992 and in Saudi Arabia in 1991.
