Cynthia Milani

Cynthia Milani Cynthia Milani is a corporate anthropologist who specializes in intercultural communication and integration of personnel. She is founder and director of the Institute for Global Development (IgD), a consortium that conducts cross-cultural training and team building for multinational corporations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. IGD has training facilities on the French Riviera, as well as in Milan Italy, where Cynthia has worked for over 25 years helping clients from global industries bridge the culture gap. Her clients are from the banking, pharmaceutical, oil & natural gas, technological and government sectors.

Cynthia has a Masters Degree in anthropology from Columbia University, did post graduate work in Semiotics (Columbia’s Paris branch) and received her certification in negotiations and conflict resolution from Harvard University Law School's Center for Conflict Resolution. She has taught management at Istituto Dirigenti Italiani, IBM Executive Education Center as well as corporate learning centers In Egypt, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, the U.S.A. and U.K.

A public speaker and the author of numerous articles on management and intercultural issues, Cynthia contributes to a variety of expatriate publications. Her advice column for expats living and working in Italy was published for several years in the Informer. She is also the author of BRAND ITALY: A Guide to the Italians (Olive Mill Press, 2009), which she will present in her talk Brand Italy/Brand America: An Anthropological Perspective to doing Business Across Borders.
