Frank Sportolari
Frank Sportolari, a native of Chicago, is a graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago Campus (BA Economics, 1980). He also has taken management courses at both Emory University and the London Business School. Before joining UPS in 1986, he worked 6 years as a logistics manager for the US Department of Defence in Germany.
Frank joined UPS in Munich, Germany in 1986 and held various positions of increasing responsibility within the Finance and Accounting function, including working as a Controller in Munich, Cologne and Neuss for UPS Germany before moving to Madrid in 1996 where he was Controller for UPS Spain & Portugal. This was followed by Controller assignments at UPS Italy and in the UPS European Coordination Centre in Brussels, where Frank coordinated the UPS Controllers across the Europe Region.
Frank has had an extensive experience in Italy where he held the position of controller from 1998 to 1999 and of managing director from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he took on the role of Vice President of European Strategy, based in Brussels, Belgium where he was responsible for developing strategies and action plans for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets.
In 2007, Frank returned to Italy as country manager, where he is currently responsible for all UPS activities in Italy. In this position, he is charged with growing the business and implementing UPS business strategies for the Italian market.
Frank is a member of the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy and chairmen of its Trade and Transportation committee. Frank is also a member of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF).
Frank lives in Milan, Italy with his wife and 4 children. He has American and Italian citizenship.
