Richard Snelsire
Richard Snelsire is the Consul for Political and Economic Affairs at the U.S. Consulate General in Milan. Prior to Milan, Mr. Snelsire served as the U.S. Embassy Press Attaché and Spokesperson in Islamabad, Pakistan. In addition, Mr. Snelsire has served as the Deputy Director of the Office of Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State (2007-2008), the Desk Officer for Turkmenistan (2006- 2007), a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (2004-2007), a Political and Consular Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen (2001- 2003), a member of the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly (2000) and an assignment as the Ambassadors Staff Assistant at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, The Philippines (1998- 2000). Mr. Snelsire began his State Department career in the Bureau of Public Affairs, Office of Press Relations in Washington, D.C.
Richard holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Southeast Asian Studies from Ohio University. Mr. Snelsire is originally from Clemson, South Carolina. He speaks French, Danish, Italian, and German.
